Trump Tariffs: Former US National Security Advisor John Bolton has sharply criticized President Donald Trump’s decision to impose 50% tariffs on India, calling it a “mistake” that could erode long-term trust between the two nations. The tariffs include a 25% penalty targeting India’s imports of Russian oil, which Trump alleges are resold for profit, indirectly aiding Moscow in prolonging the Ukraine war. Bolton also pointed out that China faces no similar penalties.
Ahead of his upcoming meeting with Vladimir Putin in Alaska, Trump lashed out at the media and mocked Bolton as “dumb.” In response, Bolton ridiculed Trump, suggesting that PM Narendra Modi nominate him twice for the Nobel Peace Prize, a jab referencing Pakistan’s recent 2026 nomination.
