President Donald Trump announced his endorsement of Republican Virginia Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears just days ahead of the election.
Aboard Air Force One Sunday night, President Donald Trump told reporters he plans to back Winsome Earle-Sears in Virginia’s gubernatorial race against Democratic Virginia nominee and former Rep. Abigail Spanberger. (RELATED: ‘I Watched Her Twist Herself’: Virginia GOP Nominee Says Spanberger Not The ‘Juggernaut’ Democrats Built Her Up As)
“I think the Republican candidate is very good and I think she should win because the Democrat candidate is a disaster,” Trump said.

Trump noted he hasn’t been very involved in Virginia races but emphasized his affection for the state and his past election results. He stated that Spanberger is a “disaster,” adding, “I watched her in the debate and she couldn’t answer the most basic question.”
Trump also noted that energy will be a major issue in both the Virginia and New Jersey races, warning both Democratic victories would “drive energy prices through the roof.”
“Your energy [prices are] going to double and triple,” he said, contrasting that outcome with what he predicted under Republican leadership. “If the Republican gets elected, your energy is going be coming down by 70 to 80%.”
He concluded the gaggle by thanking reporters and adding, “Vote Republican.”
Sears expressed gratitude for Trump’s endorsement in a statement to the Daily Caller, saying she looks forward to working with him to help keep prices low if elected governor.
“I am deeply grateful for President Trump’s support and his direct encouragement to voters in Virginia to vote Republican,” she stated. “We must ensure Virginia is the best place to live, work, and raise a family, and with President Trump, I’ll fight to keep energy costs low, keep our families safe, and defend our commonsense values.”

Trump previously endorsed Republican Attorney General Jason Miyares, who is seeking re-election. The president’s Oct. 5 Truth Social post supporting Miyares came just two days after the release of violent 2022 text messages from Democratic attorney general candidate Jay Jones. Spanberger’s repeated failure to answer key questions was on full display during the Oct. 9 debate, when she refused to give a yes-or-no answer on whether she would continue to endorse Jones after the release of his messages.
She also dodged a separate question about allowing biological males in female restrooms.
