A protester attending a “No Kings” protest in Portland, Maine, said on Saturday that she “absolutely” wished that President Donald Trump were dead.
Anti-Trump protesters attended the “No Kings for Peaceful Action” protests across the globe over the weekend to “reject” so-called “authoritarianism” and retaliate against Trump’s policies, according to the “No Kings” website. The woman told The Maine Wire reporter Jon Fetherston in Portland, Maine, that reading Trump’s obituary would be the best birthday present.
“I hope that I see the obituary that we’re all waiting for tomorrow,” the woman said. “That’s what I hope for.”
“You’re wishing that President Trump is dead?” Fetherston asked. (RELATED: George Conway Comes Out As Antifa At ‘No Kings’ Rally)
“Yes, absolutely,” the protester confirmed.

Fetherston later commented on the interaction on X, stating that her remarks are “unacceptable” and “chilling.”
“I thought I misheard her. I didn’t,” Fetherston said. “She openly said she wanted to wake up today and read the President’s obituary. Her mother stood behind her, smiling and waving her sign like it was nothing. There was a time in this country when talk like that had real consequences. Now it’s cheered on. Chilling. Unacceptable. Time to bring accountability back.”
Some protesters throughout the U.S. made several threatening remarks about members of the Trump administration, including one in Seattle, Washington, who told a reporter he wanted to kill White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller. Another protester in Chicago, Illinois, seemingly made a “neck shot” gesture at counter-protesters who unveiled a flag honoring Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.
“No Kings” was established in June 2025 and is an organization claiming to promote “national resistance to tyranny” and to “defend democracy” with Trump in power, according to the website. The organization has accused Trump of doubling down on his so-called tyranny by “targeting immigrant families,” “detaining people without warrants” and “threatening to overtake elections.”
