Victims of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, along with their families, slammed the federal government Friday for transferring Maxwell to a cushy minimum-security prison, calling the move a “horror and outrage.”

The statement, shared by CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, was signed by survivors Annie and Maria Farmer and relatives of Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who died by suicide in April. Maxwell was relocated from a federal facility in Tallahassee, Florida, to Federal Prison Camp Bryan in Texas, according to multiple reports. “Ghislaine Maxwell is a sexual predator who physically assaulted minor children on multiple occasions, and she should never be shown any leniency,” the statement reads. “Yet, without any notification to the Maxwell victims, the government overnight has moved Maxwell to a minimum security luxury prison in Texas.”

“This is the justice system failing victims right before our eyes. The American public should be enraged by the preferential treatment being given to a pedophile and a criminally charged child sex offender,” the statement continued. “The Trump administration should not credit a word Maxwell says, as the government itself sought charges against Maxwell for being a serial liar.”

Maxwell’s transfer came just one week after she was reportedly interviewed by the Department of Justice about potential Epstein associates.

The group accused officials of enabling a cover-up, adding that “the victims deserve better.”
